A private tutoring practice · Marin · San Francisco County & online
Classroom teacher — seven years, experienced with dyslexia and ADHD. Long-term growth: built brick by brick.
Now enrolling a limited number of students for the 2026–27 school year.
The work
We begin with a Foundation Assessment, a session tailored to the student, which traces challenges back to their foundational roots.
We go back and fill in the concepts, at your student's pace, in the way their mind actually learns. For students with dyslexia or ADHD, this is where the right approach changes everything.
Small wins, stacked and celebrated. Structure and study habits that hold weight. Confidence built from real mastery, not pep talks. The grades follow on their own.

From parents
Sam has been a lifesaver for our family. We have worked with ABA providers, psychologists, and wraparound services, but nothing brought about such positive and immediate changes as working with Sam. He helped our son develop essential life skills, particularly executive functioning and task initiation. Sam was able to put strategies recommended by previous providers into practice in a way that truly connected with our son.
His calm presence, patience, and sense of humor were exactly what our son—and our whole family—needed. Suddenly, our son was completing assignments and experiencing success. Sam consistently met him where he was and remained steady and supportive, even through moments of frustration or dysregulation.
Although Sam came into our lives as a tutor, he became so much more: an advocate, life coach, mentor, and, above all, a trusted friend. He genuinely understands kids who may need a different approach, and we cannot recommend him highly enough.

About
For the past seven years, I've worked one-on-one with students who had quietly decided they weren't "smart" — including many with dyslexia and ADHD, whose foundations had missing bricks not because they couldn't learn, but because no one taught the way they learn.
I know that student, because I was one. In eighth grade my math grades started to wobble. Homework was exhausting, studying felt impossible, and I concluded that I simply wasn't as good at math as the other kids. No teacher took me aside. My mom tried her best. My tutor promised me that sucking on a mint during my tests would help me remember what we did during our sessions. When that didn't work, I quietly began to hide and get by. Years later, I left a career at PwC for education without yet realizing I'd found my calling… being able to give students what I wish someone had given me.
I'm the person who finds the gaps, fills them in, rebuilding what already stands on top. Better grades are the byproduct. A student who believes in themselves again is the point.
Common questions
I primarily work with students in middle and high school. My focus is on core subjects and executive functioning.
Very. If you're comfortable sharing it, an evaluation or IEP helps me understand how your student learns before we even meet. I use what's in those reports to individualize future sessions. To be clear, I'm not a clinician or a therapist. I don't diagnose or provide therapy.
Many of my students arrived feeling that way. To them, tutoring meant more of the thing that makes them feel small. Our first sessions are meant to build a relationship and collect early wins. When the wins begin to pile up, the value of tutoring becomes apparent.
